System Integration Engineer

Permanent employee, Full-time · Delft

Our mission

QuantWare is the world's leading manufacturer of superconducting quantum hardware. As a high growth start-up with a global customer base, our mission is to accelerate the advent of the quantum computer. We push the boundaries of what's possible in our field. We work on making the world’s largest quantum processors, as fast as possible.

At QuantWare, we’re not just producing quantum hardware for the hyperscalers of tomorrow; we’re working on technology that will change the world. To make that ambition a reality, we need exceptional people who drive real impact. That’s where you come in.

We are seeking a skilled and motivated System Integration Engineer to join our team. This role requires a deep technical understanding of how subsystems interact within a larger system. While development engineers may specialize in their individual subsystems, you will be the expert on how everything fits together, guaranteeing seamless integration and overall system performance. If you’re excited about helping QuantWare define the future of quantum computing and thrive in a dynamic, innovative environment, we’d love to hear from you!

Impact of the role
As a System Integration Engineer, you will be involved throughout QuantWare’s entire development cycle, defining system specifications and leading validation efforts. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional development teams and external partners to integrate and optimize components, ensuring interoperability and overall system performance.

Through integration and test activities, you will investigate discrepancies, provide technical assessments of anomalies, and drive issues to resolution, continuously refining system performance and ensuring compliance with technical specifications. You will ensure that integration processes are well-documented, reproducible, and scalable as QuantWare builds larger, more complex systems and reaches utility-scale.
What you'll be doing
  • Plan and manage the integration of novel scaling technology developed by the R&D teams into our next generation products. Develop plans with multi disciplinary R&D teams for integration testing.
  • Take the lead and formalise system engineering procedures within the company and potentially set up a dedicated system engineering team.
What we offer

You’ll be part of a high performing team of world-leading experts at the forefront of quantum technology on a mission to change the world. QuantWare offers a fast-paced environment where you can excel and become the best version of yourself, where you can shape and own your role, taking on significant responsibility from day one.

  • An excellent monthly salary depending on experience and holiday pay (a bonus of 8% of your annual salary, paid out once a year in May)

  • A very solid pension scheme (20% off your annual salary, minus the statutory offset, of which QuantWare contributes 63%). On top of that, we fully pay for your  partner’s and orphan’s pension plus disability premium waiver. For a secure future for you and your loved ones.

  • We believe in giving and taking ownership, that’s why we let you decide on when and how to get your work done - as long as it gets done (i.e. through an open vacation policy, flexible working hours and hybrid working options).

  • For international colleagues we provide support with relocation to the Netherlands, tailored to your personal circumstances (e.g. visa application, travel costs, temporary housing and support in applying for a 30% tax benefit);

  • Great extra benefits: the choice between a public transport business card or travel allowance, a development budget based on personal ambitions and need and plenty of social and health initiatives (such as team outings, chair massages and sports classes).

Your profile

If you’re excited about this opportunity and recognise yourself in most of the points below, we’d love to hear from you!

There could be a great match if you have:

  • Experience in system engineering for deep-tech, low-volume systems (4+ yrs, but the more the better)

  • Experience working with systems that withstand extreme temperature variations, such as those in aerospace or cryogenics.

  • Experience with superconducting technologies

And even better if you also have:

  • A background in quantum physics / microwave engineering / rf engineering / communications engineering / electrical engineering or a related field (bonus points for a Phd)

  • Experience working with electromagnetism

  • Experience working with semiconductor chips / superconductor chips / MEMS

Why QuantWare?

QuantWare offers an international, fast-paced environment where you can grow and thrive in the rapidly evolving field of quantum technology.  You’ll have the opportunity to take ownership, develop your skills, and contribute to groundbreaking advancements.

We believe diverse perspectives drive innovation. That’s why we foster a culture of inclusion and respect, ensuring that everyone - regardless of gender, race, religion or background - feels valued, empowered and supported.
