Application Scientist

Permanent employee, Full-time · Delft

Our mission

QuantWare is the world's leading manufacturer of superconducting quantum hardware. As a high growth start-up with a global customer base, our mission is to accelerate the advent of the quantum computer. We push the boundaries of what's possible in our field. We work on making the world’s largest quantum processors, as fast as possible.

At QuantWare, we’re not just producing quantum hardware for the hyperscalers of tomorrow; we’re working on technology that will change the world. To make that ambition a reality, we need exceptional people who drive real impact. That’s where you come in.

QuantWare is seeking an experienced quantum engineer to join us as an Application Scientist, helping our customers achieve their objectives using our advanced quantum processors. We are looking for someone with hands-on experience working with multi-qubit superconducting quantum processors. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the cutting edge of quantum processor development while engaging directly with customers, allowing you to play a key role in advancing and democratising the quantum computing industry.

Your profile

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enable customers to achieve their objectives with our quantum processors. This includes everything from tune-up of tunable coupler devices to enabling customers to implement quantum error correction (QEC) primitives. You will support them by developing and delivering tailored training materials, conducting on-site visits, and training our team of Customer Success Engineers.

  • Provide part-time hands-on assistance to our in-house measurement team, supporting them in conducting advanced measurements for both research and product demonstrations all the while building your own expertise with our products.

  • Gather and relay customer feedback to improve products and enhance the user experience.

  • Co-author white papers and scientific publications together with our customers to demonstrate the capabilities and impact of our products.

Qualifications

While we understand the perfect candidate might not exist, if you check most of the boxes below, we’d love to hear from you:

  • PhD in superconducting qubits or equivalent industry experience.

  • Direct experience with multi-qubit tune-up of superconducting quantum processors is essential. Familiarity with advanced components like tunable couplers is a plus.

  • Excellent ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both customers and internal teams, building trust and fostering collaboration.

  • A hands-on mentality with a proactive approach to ensuring customers’ success with our products.

  • A strong interest in staying current with the latest developments in quantum technology, particularly in superconducting qubits.

  • Willingness to travel for customer visits, technical setups, and conferences as needed.

  • Charismatic, enthusiastic, and outgoing, with a strong ability to engage and collaborate with customers and internal teams.

What We Offer

You’ll be part of a high performing team of world-leading experts at the forefront of quantum technology on a mission to change the world. QuantWare offers a fast-paced environment where you can excel and become the best version of yourself, where you can shape and own your role, taking on significant responsibility from day one.

  • The opportunity to work with leading researchers and developers on groundbreaking quantum technologies.

  • A chance to deepen your technical expertise while building skills in customer engagement and solution development.

  • A collaborative and inclusive work environment that values growth, innovation, and impact.

  • An excellent monthly salary, depending on experience, and holiday pay (a bonus of 8% of your annual salary, paid out once a year in May)

  • A very solid pension scheme (20% off your annual salary, minus the statutory offset, of which QuantWare contributes 63%). On top of that, we fully pay for your  partner’s and orphan’s pension plus disability premium waiver. For a secure future for you and your loved ones.

  • We believe in giving and taking ownership, that’s why we let you decide on when and how to get your work done - as long as it gets done (i.e. through an open vacation policy, flexible working hours and hybrid working options).

  • For international colleagues we provide support with relocation to the Netherlands, tailored to your personal circumstances (e.g. visa application, travel costs, temporary housing and support in applying for a 30% tax benefit);

  • Great extra benefits: the choice between a public transport business card or travel allowance, a development budget based on personal ambitions and need and plenty of social and health initiatives (such as team outings, chair massages and sports classes).

So, now we've got your attention and interest. Do apply! In case you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out to our recruiter Roberta Dessi via recruitment@quantware.com.
